The ladies match against the current division leaders proved to be a long match but an excellent result. Speth and Carol got off to a flying start winning their first rubber with the loss of only 2 games. Linda & Julie had a much tougher time in their first rubber. They were 3-5 down in the first set before stepping up a gear to take the first set in a tie break. They then capitalised on their improved form by taking the 2nd set and the rubber.

The reverse rubbers proved to be a totally different encounter for both pairs. Julie and Linda faced a much improved pair from Team Mosaic and struggled to maintain their form losing in 2 sets. Speth and Carol were drawn into long rallies and initially struggled to find their game against the slower pace but won out in the end thus maintaining their unbeaten record this season. The team are no half way through their matches and with 23 points so far are hoping to continue their winning form.

 W 6-3 6-4 L 1-6 2-6

The ladies 2nd team traveled to Shrewsbury for their match and enjoyed a great game of tennis on grass courts. After a good warm up to get used to the grass, the first pair of Carol and Speth stormed through to win the rubber dropping just 2 games. Linda & Julie also got off to a good start and were 5-0 up in the first set before the opposition settled down but they held out and won the rubber. The second round of rubbers were totally different. Carol & Speth were keen to maintain their unbeaten record but struggled to adjust their game against the slower play of the second team and were at 4-4 before they managed to get ahead and take the first set 6-4. The second set was not straightforward but the Oswestry pair played well to secure another win and keep their unbeaten record. Having played really well in the first rubber, while carrying an injured knee, Julie's movement was compromised in the second rubber and the opposition soon took advantage of this. Oswestry won the match taking 7 of the possible 8 points which means that the team have only dropped 10 points from their 6 matches are in with a real chance of regaining their position in the 4th division. One more win should guarantee promotion.

Carol and Speth were keen to maintain their unbeaten record and although they won the first set comfortably they struggled in the second set and at 4-4 were in danger of losing the set but they dug in and secured the next 2 games to win the rubber. Linda and Julie managed to outwit their opponents in a straight set win. They flagged in their second rubber and lost in straight sets. The second rubber for Carol and Speth proved to be a more comfortable win and they have now dropped just one set in 7 matches, winning all 14 rubbers, a magnificent achievement.  The team should now be guaranteed promotion back to the 4th division but the other teams have a large number of outstanding games so it is not possible to be 100% certain just yet.
